SCAR REVISION

Scar revision aims to reduce the appearance of scars caused by injury or surgery. Certain treatments can narrow, fade and otherwise reduce the appearance of severe scarring. When necessary, a scar may be excised and re-closed using skin grafts, flap surgery, or primary closure. The best treatment varies depending on scar location, severity, and the patient’s overall health.

Cosmetic procedures, like skin bleaching, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, injectable steroids, and laser treatment, can improve discoloration and mild surface irregularity by removing the damaged top layers of skin. Multiple treatments may be needed in order to achieve noticeable results. Dr. Prystowsky can provide a personalized treatment plan after a consultation.
